It's many years since the bridge over the River Severn was closed due to flooding.
It's no suprise with the recent rain fall that it's been shut again today. A city divided in two 😞 ☔️

I didn't finish the red jumper I originally started with this wool. It was great fun, unravelling and winding it into balls. I've started a completely different pattern, fingers crossed I'll like this one but it's a bit wierd knitting with crinkly wool 🐑. Day 3 of 30 days of cold showers today - saving energy every morning ❄️❄️❄️ #30DayColdShowerChallenge #Upcycling As my foundation has run out (actually I think it should have been thrown out a while back, I don't use it very often and it must be a good couple of years old), I made the decision to replace it with a mineral foundation. It's a reward too, for all the hard work I have put in this week 🎁 So, what are the benefits of a mineral make-up? http://www.sheknows.com/beauty-and-style/articles/100499/5-reasons-to-use-mineral-makeup Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm no make-up expert but what I do know is that it was really easy to apply and had a very natural finish. It felt very light on my skin and had no odour which is a benefit for me. The Flawless by Sonya mineral make-up is available from my store in light, natural, amber and caramel. It is designed to provide soft coverage and a flawless luminous glow. Available from www.a4aforever.myforever.biz/store #ForeverLivingProducts #FlawlessBySonya #MineralMake-Up http://www.goodmeasuremeals.com/health/tanita-scale Found a useful site with reference information regarding % body fat, % hydration etc. My Week One results are Weight ⬇️5.3 pounds Body Fat % ⬇️2.4% Hydration % ⬆️1.7% I may still be classed as obese by the table above but it's a step in the right direction 😇. Watching Jamie and Jimmy's Food Fight Club this evening reminded me of school dinners and the puddings we ate when we were young. The pink blancmange rabbit on a bed of green jelly grass was always a favourite - not sure I could stomach it now. However, I'm sure the rabbit mould is still hiding out at Mum's house - maybe it's time to experiment and make a healthier version? It was amazing to see it featured in this blog and the photo is perfect. http://grandadslad.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/i-know-it-seems-childish-but-every-year.html?m=1 Makes me feel cold just looking at these icicles. I love having five minutes to browse, these icicles are made from resin for film and photography purposes. How amazing would that look over Christmas along with a few bags of artificial snow!🎄 http://www.trengovestudios.com/icicles.htm Anyway, today was Day 2 of my 30 day cold shower challenge and it was so cold, it took my breath away. But I stuck with it and as a result felt quite pleased with myself 😊 The transformation is going well, I've continued with a daily green smoothie amongst many other lifestyle changes but have managed to drop 5 pounds this week - trousers are feeling looser - what a great feeling! Benefit of the day - a cold shower can make your hair look shinier. http://hotmommatips.com/health-fitness/benefits-of-cold-showers/ (Obviously some people with existing medical conditions should avoid the shock of a cold shower - if in doubt ask your doctor.) #30DayColdShowerChallenge #transformation #weightloss Image from http://blog.fundedbyme.com My top 5 reasons to blog 1. to share knowledge 2. to inspire others 3. to maintain a record 4. for fun 5. to promote my business Shower control set to cold and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It took my breath away to start with and it's a little odd standing in the shower with goose bumps. Half an hour later, I'm moisturised and dressed and I can feel a slight tingling of my skin which is quite pleasant. I'm going to try and find a benefit a day to go with my cold shower. Here is the fact for today. It is said that cold showers can strengthen the immune system. http://wakeup-world.com/2012/04/11/ten-health-benefits-of-cold-showers/ #30DayColdShowerChallenge #transformation
http://www.garvan.org.au/news-events/evidence-that-shivering-and-exercise-may-convert-white-fat-to-brown A study by Endocrinologist Dr Paul Lee suggests that shivering is capable of stimulating the conversion of white fat to energy burning brown fat. With 50gm brown fat capable of burning up to 300 calories per day maybe exploring ways to shiver may be advantageous. So, I could turn the heating down and make the whole family put on a few extra layers (and save some money) or I could try a cold shower (and still save some money)! Having browsed, I have discovered many people discussing the benefits of a 30 day cold shower challenge. So tomorrow I'm going to give it a go. http://impossiblehq.com/cold-shower-therapy-guide So I've managed a green smoothie every morning in February. It's only four but it's certainly a step in the right direction. |
